Fancy Nails

My dad is a Vice President at the Bank of Fayetteville, and so when they start new branches, he is occasionally asked to go out and prepare the site, check the building over, etc.. When the bank recently purchased the Fancy Nails's salon in Farmington, my dad went out to see what needed to be done. The salon is going to have to be gutted to make room for what the bank wants. My dad, knowing that I love a good project, consulted with my mother who asked him to save the ceiling tiles. We have seen some adorable paintings done on tiles at the Clothesline Fair. In fact, my friend Lyndsey has one in her nursery and she paid good money for it. My parents came over today and stacked the tiles in our garage. There are lots and lots more, and my mom has the rest in her garage. I can't wait to try one out!

Our garage (glamorous, I know....)

We stacked some here....

And some up here...

  1. I saw these a long time ago at a Flea Market in Brinkley. LOVED THEM and always had that tucked away in my "someday project" file. One of the ones I saw had a feather boa glued around the edges-SO CUTE. I may have to steal a celing tile when we come back to AR next time!

  5. I've made some of those before. They are fun to do. They also make really cute boards to pin stuff up (like the old cork boards we used to use).

I did get your Christmas card. Very cute! You are so creative. I wish I could do half of what you do.

  7. Hi there! Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog. Those tiles are a wealth of possibilites! How fun! And judging from the painting you did, they will be adorable! I've been toying with the idea to paint various "coffee" pictures for my kitchen, that might be cute on the tiles! Oh, and I love the feather boa idea!

  8. What a great idea!!! I love that the nursery has a frog picture in it. I've always wanted to do a nursery in frogs. I guess I should get married first, then pregnant, then I can plan a nursery! :)

  9. I love the ceiling tile art. I've seen them at craft fairs and you're right--they are NOT cheap. You should rent a booth at the next craft fair. The stuff you do is way cuter than most of the things people sell there.

  10. Jessica-
I have one in Calloway's nursery that I got at the clothesline fair this year. I love it! I think I paid $20 for it. Not bad at all...
