Love

I loved today. The last time I laid eyes on my family was over three long months ago.

And today can be summarized with one word- love!

I loved taking my parents to the island {Belle Isle}

I loved seeing Harbor being loved on by someone other than his parents.

I so enjoyed hearing my mom's voice in person and feeling my dad's hand on my shoulder.

I loved David being off work.

and falling in love with Detroit, my Detroit. My city.

And you know what I really liked? Not using the tripod on myself once!  : )

It was muggy and warm by Detroit's definition {High of 90}, but it was such a perfect day. The river was blue and sparkling, the freight liners enormous and grand, and the seagulls a flattering white against the backdrop of the city.

We threw pennies in the Belle Isle Fountain.

And waved to Canadians and Americans crossing the borders.

We rode the subway {Detroit's People Mover}

And walked from Greektown {Ate lunch at Pegasus}to Comerica Park {There was a Tiger's Game today}

And chummed with street performers {So much fun!!}

Mingled with fans at Comerica Park {We didn't have tickets, but that didn't stop us. No way.}

And walked the riverwalk, admiring Ambassador Bridge.

Yes, today was like a dream. After 12 weeks of surviving alone, just the three of us, in this big city, my house is full of family. I love it.

{And to the sweet comment on where my shirt came from in the last post- Old Navy. Thanks for asking!}

  6. Oh, I am so happy that you get to spend the weekend with your family. I know it is the best feeling!!! Hang in there. You it will start to feel more and more like home and you will start to find your place and make friends. It know how hard it is to be in a new place with no family.

  7. I've been a long time lurker, but not sure that I've ever commented. Your mom could totally pass as your older sister! I now want to visit Detroit, it looks so charming!
