Hello Motto

Those who know us best, know we are really fuddy-duddies, that hate paying for stuff we don't need. For example, in almost seven years of marriage, we just, in the last three weeks got cable T.V. for the first time. Why? We needed it in order to have free cable installation. When the cable runs out, it is out! We will not renew it! We are too busy to watch T.V. anyway. Our bible study together at night heads south when Candace Olsen whips up a Divine Design, and David temporarily forgets he has a wife when Dirty Jobs comes on.

Our phones are old, and we are okay with that. Does it work? Yes. Are the numbers visible on the key pad? Yes. Can it hold a call? Yes, sorta. We have had our phones for at least three years or so. Our contracts were up, and both got new phones to the tune of $20. I have a razor, but I am not sure about it yet. The phone itself is great, but I hate learning new phones. I dread "finding" my way around inside of my new little Motto.

My Hero!

On Sunday after Connection Group, David headed over to my parent's house to finish up the gigantic book shelf unit he has been working on for our office. Today was the first time I had seen any of it- every time he goes over there to work, I am usually working on other "house" projects here. I am SO proud of David and his handi-work! They are beautiful! They are huge! I wanted David to stand by them for scale. David is 6 ft. 1 inch, and they are taller than him. They will look so nice in our office on those stained concrete floors. We priced units like this at furniture stores, and they were thousands of dollars. David went to Lowes, bought the lumber, and used the left over stain from the shutters he made. Total price- $150.00!!!!! Yes folks, $150 and we have a custom built bookshelf that is massive enough for all of our college books AND my trashy beach novels! Yeah!!! He is my hero (sigh!)

Ms. Amy's "Tippy Toes" Preschool

Mom and I were shopping on Saturday afternoon, doing our usual Salvation Army run, and at another disclosed location found this simply adorable, baby blue, stainless steel bread box! Who knew they still made these? Not me!! My thoughts immediately went to Amy, of Ms. Amy's Tippy Toes, and how she could really benefit from its ingenious use of organization. Mom bought it for her, and I decided to paint it, to personalize it. We were Thelma & Louise- only cuter and with better style. I worked late into the night, trying first rubber stamps, but eventually moving on to hand drawn letters. I thought it would be cute to organize snacks, little cups and plates, napkins, or even preschool supplies in. Her kitchen is blue and brown, so I wanted it to match. Amy taught kindergarten until this year when she decided to open her own in-home preschool. Mom and I, of course, stuffed it full of animal crackers, to make it seem more "real"! : ) Enjoy Amy!

My Geneva!

She is really not "my" Geneva, but I feel like she is because we have been friends since the crust cooled. She is literally one of my oldest friends. We have been buddies since we were Middle School age. For me, being an Army brat, that is a LONG time!!! : ) She dropped by unannounced Saturday night to visit and see the house. Her and Bichon had a warm reacquainting- it was sweet. It was the first time we had seen each other in about two years. Geneva sells Pampered Chef and I am having a party in September, so it was helpful to have her over to give me pointers on where to set up, etc... Geneva, I am so very glad you stopped by. I love you, and value your friendship. Thank you for putting up with me all these years! : ) Stop by again soon. I mean it!

This Week Is Going To Be Great!

Mom and I spent about two hours on Saturday working on my classroom. We got name tags made, my dog bulletin finished, complete with all of my students' names. I got my agendas ready, and all my copies for the upcoming week run.The hallway bulletin is our tema's theme for the year- teamamtes. Each sport's ball has a child's name on it, and on Monday and I am going to take every single child's photo, have them developed, and inserted their pictures into the balls. Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Reed and I work so well together, and I know we will have another fun year of creativity! I am really pumped! My aunt Cathy also stopped by and gave me a sweet back-to-school gift- a desk calender with a verse of the day, and a roll of quarters ($10 worth). Thanks, Cathy!I love teaching! It makes me feel alive. I also love making my own money, and feeling like I have contributed to the household. I think working gives my life purpose, and for me, I need to feel that in order to feel satisfied at the end of the day. Knowing David sees me as a partner and a contributor makes me feel like I have made him proud. I don't know how I will feel if I ever have to quit. It will be extremely hard for me. I can't wait to get started and meet all of my kids face-to-face! I know God has called me into this profession, and I can't wait to start the 07-08 school year! My prayer is that God would use me in a mighty way to represent His peace and love in such a way that students would see Him in me. Pray for me this year, that I would do His will, and seek His lead in my life.
