Faux Gifts

I plan on decorating for Christmas this Saturday, and having everything in place by Tuesday. When looking at my dining room table, I decided the hydrangeas would simply not do for the holidays. Tonight, after David and I went out to dinner and made some stops, we ducked into Hobby Lobby. I bought some trim for the Christmas stockings I am having made, some letters to paint for a girl who emailed me and placed an order for them as Christmas gifts, and three canvases. I have decided to paint the canvases to look like pretty Christmas presents, display them on wrought-iron stands, and stagger them on the dining room table. I hope it creates a little "whimsy" in there! I am always looking for some "new" idea, and maybe these will turn out cute. I got one done tonight, and plan on finishing the other two later on in the week.

  1. How stinkin cute is that idea! I wish I could just "come up" with ideas like that...me, I just steal them from other people. Excuse me, I need to go paint some presents! Just kidding!

  3. Such a great idea! I can't wait to see how the others turn out. =)

And I think you're right - I think KP is pretty common, just no one likes to make a big deal about the strange red bumps on their arms. ;)

  6. ADORABLE!! I'm so ready to start decorating, but we have all our stuff in storage b/c we had planned on moving before Christmas. :( I'm making David get it out tomorrow so I can get started this weekend!!! I had forgotten about the scary eyes--haven't done that in awhile!

  7. YES - you have to do the tour of homes. You don't do anything until that day (dec 17th) and just visit her blog and add your name as a link. (She'll have a special link and instructions on her blog that day). Then you just click on all the links to look at houses and you will get lots of visitors looking at yours! It's SO much fun! People will LOVE seeing your house.

  11. That looks like such a fun project. I cannot wait to see the finished result. I am planning to decorate next week. I usually have a rule that no Christmas stuff goes up until after Thanksgiving but we will be going out of town for Thanksgiving so I want everything to be "Christmas" when we get back.
