Chevron and the City

I've had a week to remember! One of my teaching partners at the middle school flew in on Saturday and just left today. We had a wonderful time together and my cup is running over with love and happiness. I told her it was like my two worlds had collided, seeing my Arkansas teacher pal in Detroit. It makes living here feel like home.

I plan on doing a day-by-day recap of our adventures, so look for those to start in a few days.

And since these pictures are long overdue, here is our dining room. It is bright and colorful and fun, which is a great contrast to the time period of the house {1920s}. Chevron is definitely trendy, but I have no issue repainting in a year or two if I tire of it. Paint is such a fun medium and is easy and cheap to use. But, I have a feeling that this chevron is here to stay for at least a few years. We all really love being in this room.

And for those of you who are not friends with me on Facebook because we don't *really know each other, here is a sneak peek of Judith and me in Detroit on Belle Isle {an island between Windsor and Detroit on the international water border.} Judith could be a super model {she is so tall and gorgeous, is she not?} I feel so lucky to have had her fly in to visit. Harbor and David enjoyed hearing laughter in the house.  : )

I'm starting to feel like this big city really has a small town heart. I look at these pictures and think that this city is mine and I am hers.  : )

  1. I LOVE the chevron wall in your dining room, love it!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I know you enjoyed Judith coming to vist & thats great that her husband is such a great family man & took care of their 4 kids so you guys could be together again. Your dining room looks more like you now, I love how it all has come together. And you did it all with what you already had. I bet Harbor will love having you to himself again. There are roads, towers & such to build,ha!!!Give Harbor a kiss for us, miss & love you, Gigi & Poppy

  3. I love what you did in your dining room! It is gorgeous! I am so glad your friend could come and see you! How fun!

  4. The dining room is looking fabulous! Can't wait to see the whole house. I love seeing how different people decorate differently. I'm glad you got to see a "home" friend. I can't wait, because in less then 2 weeks, I'll be home in Arkansas. Hope you're having a fantastic summer!

  5. LOVE the chevron! It looks great and I love that you just did it as an accent wall!

  6. I LOVE the wall!! So pretty! That is great that she got to come and visit!

  7. Loving the chevron wall. Can't wait to see the rest of the house.

  8. Jessica,
The Chevron is beautiful!! You and David did such an amazing job!!!

So glad your friend could come visit you. It certainly makes a large city feel more like home, when friends are there.

Have a Blessed weekend ~~ Dawn
