A "McCash" Kinda Valentine

Despite the trying and difficult events of this week, we had a very romantic Valentine's Day. David was a completely hopeless romantic and I was his ever-loving, eye-lash batting sweetheart! : )

We decided to celebrate early on Wednesday night, and David started by making dinner on the grill. We ate by candelight, which was a fun change from the ordinary. I'm so glad he bought that grill now and totally forgive him for spending such a large amount of money on it! Ha! I haven't cooked in weeks! : )

After dinner, we opened gifts. David was so thoughtful and really sought to get me something not only creative, but something useful. I loved the big pack of sharpies- they will be so much fun to make cards with- and the 50th anniversary edition of Seven Brides for Seven brothers was totally "me". If you haven't seen it, go! Go now! It is the best chick flick!

I found a neat corn-on-the-cob BBQ grill accessory and thought David would love it! (So will I, actually! Yummy!) He especially loved it because it was non-stick!

After our gift giving, David suggested we go for a scenic ride together to enjoy the night. I, of course, thought that was a marvelous idea! Once we were out driving, he had another gift ready for me. I was surprised at how organized he was with his little plan! I actually laughed out loud when he pulled out a custom made CD he had burned for me with all of my favorite 80's songs. He had burnt a sweet little message on the front that said, "To Honey."

To finish up our drive, we listened to the entire CD, and then David took my car through the car wash. Oh Yeah! That is what I am talking about! True love!

That night, after returning home, I got the phone call to let me know about my dear friend Kiley. I was so thankful that night to have David to turn to. David was a strong source of strength emotionally and spiritually. I am so glad David is the spiritual leader of our home. At that moment in time, I fell to pieces and relied on God first, but also David. David is a true prayer warrior.

Thursday night, the real Valentine's Day, the door bell rang twice unannounced. I was so surprised and utterly blessed to have my neices, Chyann and Madison, come by to bring me flowers for Valentine's Day, and to have my cousin Rachel come by with a sweet cookie cake she made all by herself. I truly have a wonderful life! My friends and family are the sweetest Valentines of all!

I want you all to know how humbled I was to receive so many prayer requests and well wishes. I truly, truly thank you. As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, your prayers are the only answers and hope that I have to explain the profound hurt in my heart. It is through Jesus that our "stripes are healed." I clung to his word and the promises He made, and I want you to know that I sat and read every single word in every sweet comment left during the days of Kiley's passing. Blogging is such a fun hobby, but on that day, my blog became so much more to me. To hear from so many other Christian sisters was humbling, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  4. you know you have a keeper when he makes you a mixed "tape" :) we chose a green (almost the color of your dining room wall, but brighter) striped duvet. with some brown accents. i think all our rooms will look the same, we keep picking the same colors over and over again. I have to keep saying, wait, aren't those the same colors in the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, etc. haha.

  6. Adorable! Just adorable! Not just sharpies, Jessica, but the mega multi-color pack of sharpies! I have to laugh b/c that is something that totally would make me jump for joy! I remember color coding everything in my former classroom.

I saw that you met Kelly too! How awesome. I think you looked fabulous too! If ever I am in Arkansas, we'll have to all see about meeting for a blogger luncheon! :o) Or if you are in Florida too! :o)

Hope you are feeling some strength with all the prayers lifted your way. If you ever need anything at all, I'm just an email or phone call away. :o)

I met with a lady at The Baby's Room in Rogers about my bedding. I told her what I wanted and then she went through her fabric samples and we met up to go through them. Then she has to send my order off to someone else to have it made. It took a little while but I definitely loved it!
