A Week in the Life

Thank you to all who left such nice comments on our beach pictures!
It is always fun hearing from so many of you!

I named this post as such because it really covers a hodgepodge of what we have been up to lately.

David worked an entire year {just had his one year anniversary here in Detroit!} and only had about four days off that we can count. That includes weekends. He had two Sundays off for the entire year and two Saturdays. The rest, he worked from 6:00 am- 5:00 pm. Isn't that insane? Now that his first year is up and he has made it through the recent company audit, he has had a few weekends off. Whew!

We have missed him and have enjoyed having him home! Sometimes I award myself "Wife of the Year" for moving so far from home and family and being alone, more or less, for an entire year. {Grin!} All jokes aside, we have been so thankful to spend time with him.
In the last two weeks, aside from our beach trip, we also made a visit to the Detroit Zoo.

I've cooked countless meals and have started switching gears from winter soups to spring salads.

Harbor and I have played "Easter" games by building a zoo for all of his eggs.

We divided the eggs into animal groups and housed them accordingly.

I've baked lots of cookies for Harbor and blueberry muffins for David's breakfast.

We've welcomed Daddy home with homemade bead necklaces.

We took a trip into the downtown to visit the Detroit Institute of Art.

We roamed endless galleries of Picasso, Renoir, and Monet.

Harbor tried his hand at sketching a suit of armor.

I've baked more cookies because, well, we like sweets at our house. : )

We, sadly, are still experiencing winter weather on occasion.
Though it seems to be getting warmer most days,
last week we had a bit of a storm that covered the streets and sidewalks
{and the Easter  flowers.}

We drove to Holland, Michigan to visit Holland Sate Park, the Big Red Lighthouse, and the Holland Beach.

We've worked on Easter crafts to mail to family.

And today, flew a kite at a local park!

Next week is our 11th {Eleven!! Wow!} wedding anniversary!
Isn't spring a great season! So much anticipation of summer in the air!

  4. You definitely deserve Wife AND Mommy of the year! You're so creative with your crafts/play time at home with Harbor (I totally think I'm stealing the sponges as building materials for my Kindergarten class! haha) and you seem like such a strong woman. Keep up the positivity :)

I know what it's like to be so far away from family and friends. Living in England (a whole 3220 miles away from my little town in Vermont)is hard, and after 4 years I'm VERY excited to move back home at the end of July. I'm sure it's comforting for your family to ready your wonderful blog and admire your beautiful pictures. Yet another beautiful post :)
