Happy 2008!!

We spent New Year's Eve with Zack, Amy, Zayde, Tamara, Drew, Kynzie, Rachel, Dean, Lyndsey, and Hudson. We met up at Grubs and then headed out to Amy's parents' house for games. I love New Years! Next to Christmas, it is easily one of my favorite times of the year. There is just something refreshing in "starting over." Resolutions, hopes, and dreams for the future are what motivate and drive me. I hope to spend 2008 really focusing on my career and my marriage. David and I hope to take a few more vacations 'just the two of us' and just make it a priority to find a few more hobbies we can share together. I also really want to "organize" my house- sort, sell, box-up, and label. I feel like my cabinets and drawers are cluttered most of the time, and organizing it will just really help to clear my head. So, here is to you, my friend, and 2008 being just great!

New Year's day, David watched the Cotton Bowl, cried a little cry for the Razorbacks, and took me shopping. Ahhh! Shopping therapy! Makes any football loss bearable! : ) We spent some of our Lowe's gift card from Christmas and bought a really fun, plush area rug for the kitchen. We also bought a chocolate rug called "Wooley Booley", which really cracks us up, but it had to be special ordered due to the size, so it is not pictured. I am going to put it in the middle of our bathroom. It is definitely "wooley." I have spent the last few days also taking down Christmas decor. I have cleaned out a few things for yard sale, and the rest has been sorted and placed into tupperware bins based on location in the house. Does anyone else have six bins of Christmas decor? It takes up oh-so much storage space, but I can't get rid of anything else. I am also a major stickler on organization and am a bit obsessive with how things are packed up. Oh well... We also bought a brushed bronze kickplate and door knocker for the front door. I'm excited to get those put up! So, now that Christmas is over, Spring Break countdown has officially begun!! Only 10 weeks left until David and I head out to Colorado to stay a week in our cabin with 15 of our closest friends and family members. I can't wait to hang out with my friends and family on the slopes! Happy New Year!!

  1. I can't imagine having to store all those decorations! That's one thing that keeps me from doing too much decor--I dread putting the little bit that I do away every year. We managed to get ours put away already, which is a lot earlier than we normally get it done! So---do you have any time any of the evenings left of the week? Can I come by and bug you,I mean, hang with you?

  2. Mom has that many storage boxes. (they are all in my closet right now) I'm sure once I've been in my own place for a while, it will be that way. My grandma had an enitre walk in closet and her attic full of decor. Not all Christmas, though. She decorated for every holiday! I loved it!

  29. I can only dream of being as organized as you are! We took down decorations yesterday, too. One time in grad school I left my tree up past Valentine's Day. Now, come Jan 1, I'm ready to pack it up! I don't like putting away the decorations, but I don't want it to linger, either!

  32. I think I upgraded to 6 bins this year but one whole bin is dedicated to my village, and another just to lights. after looking at your house all decorated i wondered how many bins it would take to store all of it, and where you kept it all - both questions you've answered in recent posts. it doesn't look too overwhelming, perhaps there's hope for me to do a bit more decorating if it packs up that nicely. i even label my bins with every single thing that goes in them so that it all goes back where it came from.
