Home

Harbor and I have been home from Arkansas for over a week now.
We took a train out of Chicago headed down south and stayed for two weeks.  Our main reason for visiting was a  baby shower my friends and family so kindly put together for us.

It ended up being a very remarkable trip, but for some very sad reasons. While in Arkansas, David's mother fell very ill and passed away. David drove down as quickly as he could- 16 hours without stopping from Michigan to Arkansas- and was able to see his mother literally hours before she passed.
We had our baby shower and her visitation on the same day. Can you imagine. Just tragic.

David is only 31 years old, but now has lost both his parents.

It feels like a terrible dream now that we are all back home. I know so many people that are hurting and in need of miracles and hope. For us, Jesus Christ is, and continues to be, the solid rock on which we stand. To welcome a new baby and lose a mother really is such a reflection on the circle of life. Please pray for us as these weeks seem long and hard so far away from family.

I have so many pictures to upload and happy stories to tell, in spite of the sad ending to our time at home in Arkansas.

The baby shower was beautiful and we had a full house- over 60 friends and family members came to honor this new baby on his way. We enjoyed late nights at the family farm, visits to the duck pond, and birthday dinners.

But, for now, I'll leave you with a single picture.

  9. Jessica, It was so good to be able to pick Harbor & you up at Amtrack Station for a very busy 2 week vist. But with the wonderful baby shower for Henry their was such sad time also with David's wonderful mother Joann passing away. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother to so many people. She was always giving of herself to others. This is one of those times that we don't understand why things had to happen like they did but God knows & we just have to find the peace & rest in that. Poppy & Gigi miss & love you all.

  13. Jessica,
I haven't read your blog in soooo long!! (I've been a bad slacker lately with blogging) For some reason you popped in my head tonight. So, I thought I'd check on you and see what you are up to. I didn't even know you're expecting again! That's great news!! (we are expecting too!! Due in April with #3!) I can't wait to scroll back through some of your old posts.
I'm so very sorry about your loss. That's just terrible!! I lost my grandmother a few weeks ago. It's so hard losing someone you love so much. We can be thankful that we'll see them again one day though.
Anyway...I'll be praying for your family.
