The Weekend "Poster" Strikes Again!

I guess I am turning into a weekend poster! Sorry! My work week is entertaining enough, but so much so it seems that posting mid week is near impossible. My apologies to the ANB staff in Rogers who are my biggest fans! : )

Friday:

We went to Zack and Amy's house for dinner. Zack made blackened chicken alfredo, Amy made green bean bundles, and we brought salad. We watched a movie and had a fun time! Amy and Zack gave us a late Valentine's day gift- two monkeys on a motorcycle. When you press the tire, the bike plays "Jungle Boogie", and they both dance. It was so funny~ we laughed at her pink hairbow and his leather jumpsuit, because, you know, it looks just like us! : )

Saturday:

David and I ate at Schlotskys for lunch. I tried a gormuet pizza and was not disappointed. I love anything that tastes gormuet, but costs cheap. We love Schlotskys and seriously eat there at least once a week, sometimes two.

We have lived in Northwest Arkansas for 13 years, and Saturday was the first time we had ever seen the horse outside of the florist down from the mall get painted! David grabbed the camera and about merged into another lane snapping pictures. He has turned into quite the blog reporter!

Saturday night, we had dinner with my parents and Rachel and my parents' house. My dad treated us all to steaks. I love living seven minutes from both sets of our families. To say we take advantage of them is an understatement, but in a good way of course! Ha!

My dad has a wood working shop behind their house where he enjoys making furniture and the like. Just this week he finished up a few hanging shelves and a bookcase for my mom's sunroom. She painted them mustard to match the walls in the room, and has started filling the book case with my childhood books. Almost every single book my mom bought for me growing up is still in existence somehwere. She even took the time to write in every single book, and each book has the date and year she gave it to me, and most have some type of "message" from her to me. To say it turned me into a Reading teacher is an understatement. Books and I are tight like that. Ha! She has big plans of teaching my kids to read someday, and loves that dad built her some customized shelving to fit the room.

The boys watched the Discovery channel...

While the girls played with the Chi iron...

And mom and Bichon watched HGTV in the master bedroom.
Ahhh.. the family life! : )

Sunday:

Sunday afternoon, I started a painting project, when I heard noises from the front yard. I was shocked to see the front yard had been dug up!! When I questioned David, he said he thought we needed to install a drainaige pipe under the flowerbeds. He felt that the last time it rained, the rain puddled too heavily over the sidewalk. Sheesh... that man.... He will be the death of me! : ) When he wants a project done, he gets it DONE!!

Sunday evening, I finished a tile for Susan, who has a four-year old grandson, Brandon. Brandon will be "mutton bustin'" in July at the rodeo, and with his birthday in a few days, she wanted something to fit in with his newest hobby. David and I have never been to the rodeo if you can believe that, so I consulted her heavily, and we decided on cowboy boots and a hat, on a half tile. The colors red, white, and blue, with a little black fringe are perfect for a lil' pint sized cowboy!
Enjoy, Susan!

David hung two new resin crosses I picked up at the Salvation Army (score!!) in the laundry room with an existing cross that was looking a bit lonley!

The Hickman's Valentine's gift found a home in our library.

I hope to post again mid week, as I am finishing up another tile for a consignment shop in Elkins who has requested a tile with their store's name.

Until then, have a great work week, and glorify Him!! Toodles!

  4. My sister thinks your hubby looks like Ashton Kutcher. Anyway, you had a packed weekend, looks like lots of fun though.

By the way, I keep meaning to ask you this. David look familiar to me the first time I saw him on your blog...did he go to the business college at the U of A?

  11. You are a busy girl!

I adore Scholtzsky's! I've never tried their pizza because I'm in love the with Smoked Turkey Original, but my kids think the pizza is yum-o!

And I'm cracking up at the different Razorback shirts your husband is wearing. Mine are all so plain!

How sweet of your mom to save all your books. We are all big readers, and I would love to save my kids' books, but we have SO many. You've inspired me to go back and write the dates in some of them (if I can remember!) or at least write why that book was/is special!

    Have a great week!

  12. I love that your mom and books have been such a big influenece on you. That is so sweet. I love your moms sunroom. Very pretty!
The motorcycle that Amy got you is adorable. Yes-it does look like ya'll!
What was the occassion for the painted horse? Is it there all the time?
Looking at Bichon, I have decided that my shih tsu has some bichon in her. My Lucy Lu looks much like her, she was sold as a pure bred shih tsu, but I think not. She has the head and body of Bichon. I adore my Lucy like you Love Bichon.
The tile you made is adoreable. I cannot wait to see the one for the business!
Can I borrow David? I need some home and garden work. My husband is tech savy. It ends there. Home and garden he knows nothing about. There is a service in town who's slogan says, "We repair what your husband "fixed". Sadly, we are on a first name basis! LOL!

  14. I can't believe this: We were in Fayetteville also Saturday and we drove by and saw them painting the horse and I had never seen that before after many many years! Your Mom is so sweet about your books! No wonder you love them so much! When Kelly was a baby, I would cut out pictures of things she liked out of magazines and "make" her a book that she could "read". She really did start reading at age four.

  15. Okay, you must come help me decorate my house!! Sounds like yall are busy people. I love that your mom wrote in the books, I will have to remember that.

  17. I loved your weekend update! Y'all always do such fun and interesting things! Your laundry room is so neat--seeing it has inspired me to try to make mine a little more "inviting" (probably a strange word for a laundry room, but I really do like doing laundry, so I wish the room was a bit more organized. I finished a curtain for my laundry room a while back, but I'm having a hard time finding pegs to use to hang it??) Your husband sounds like he's great with projects--you never know what he's going to be up to! I think it's cute that you said he has started grabbing the camera for blog updates! I told L I might have to start a new blog with a password that he doesn't know because he keeps making changes to my blog without my "permission" ha! Today I caught him editing a recent entry because I said that the LR zoo did not have a warthog like the Tyler zoo, when in fact LR does have a wart hog! :) He says that I don't give our zoo enough credit. :)

What a fun-filled weekend! I need to head to the Salvation Army girl! Those crosses are great! Maybe I can start filling up my home with accessories at a cheaper price!

Listen girl...I am impressed with your Hubs! I wish mine would finish hanging my shelves in closets...putting on those last few DOORKNOBS. He is driving me crazy! ha! I try not to nag, but maybe I should. LOL!
