School Days, School Days!

We can't seem to stay away from school, in one fashion or another! Daivid is a Junior and will graduate next May, and I am teaching 5th grade at Prairie Grove Middle School. I am also taking a Master's Literature class in Ft. Smith every Thursday night, 5:25-8:05. It makes for a long day! The class is so beneficial though; it is a Masters level course in pre-K to 4th grade literacy. I could now teach Reading pre-K-8th grade. I love 5th grade, though. I have NO plans of changing grades any time soon! : )

Hanging Out at "Home!"

Bikes, Blues, and BBQ is a family event at my house. My dad takes days off from work, my family rides their motorcycles in the parade, and we all go out to Dickson every night. My parents stay out later than we do during that week. It is so much fun and we look forward to meeting up with our "biker" buddies every year. Our good friends, Zack and Amy, went with us this year. We crashed at our house afterwards- tired with sore-feet! Zack and Amy also have a motorcycle, but neither couple rode that night.

The Challenge of Design!

We had to do it the hard way, of course! We found a piece of a plan online that we liked, used tons of photos, and stole ideas from all the houses we have loved over the years. The result? A jumbled mismatch of ideas that our architect had to piece together himself. We have changed the plan at least six times, it has grown, and it has shrunk. David meets tomorrow, Thursday night, with the architecht to finalize the last of the changes. It is very time consuming to pick every last detail, but very fun! I have paint chips, fabric, and decorating ideas running through my head at all times. The above blueprints are still in the revision stage, and the front elevation has already morphed into something different, but the downstairs and upstairs are pretty close to the final drawing.

Welcome "back" home party!

My family celebrated the closing of our house with a buttercream "Bichon" cake! We all ate a slice of "dog" to commemerate the start of a new story in our lives. It was a very cute idea!

Our new "temporary" house!

We closed on our house in Farmington on Rob Street Friday, September 29th. We close on our land this Friday, October 6th. We have moved into my old "wing" at my parents house while we await the finished construction of our new home! Our architect is Pat King, formerly with McClellanad Engineering, and our builder is Brad Hancock, of Rafter "H" homes. We are so excited to work with such a creative team!
