and amazing to me that we are about to spend our 2nd Halloween in Detroit!

4th of July Shelves

Hope you had a great Memorial Day with your family!

In years past, we have spent our Memorial Day like this,

but this year we did a few house projects and stayed around home.

We certainly missed all the festivities at home in Arkansas.

I had my shelves redecorated in time to be Memorial Day shelves,

but I am planning on using them

for the 4th of July, also.

Freedom shelves, perhaps?

I love looking at how different the light is in these past pictures.

Today's pictures reflect a rainy, cloudy day here in Detroit.

Our high yesterday was only in the 60's.

Our Easter Shelves

We are home today recovering from a busy weekend and a day full of doctor appointments that kept us hopping all day yesterday. This weekend we went to the Detroit Zoo and the Detroit Institute of Arts, which is an enormous art museum- one of the top six in the country! We feasted our eyes on original Pablo Picasso's and Renoir's, walked through Egyptian relics, and marveled at sculptures dating back to the Renaissance.

I've got lots of pictures to upload, but for today, I'll share our Easter Shelves.

We have been had our pretty Easter napkins on the table for about a week now and plan on using them through April.

And just for fun, here is a look back at our previous Holiday dining room shelves.

Valentine's Day Shelves

We've had our Valentine's Day shelves up for almost a month already and have enjoyed the bright cheerfulness they bring to the house. Pinks, reds, and crisp whites have been a fun change to the green and ivy from Christmas! : )

This is my photography assistant.

His job is to ensure every photograph has the perfect balance of natural and artificial light.

He works hard and actually requires little very pay!

I feel really lucky to have his knowledge during my photo shoots!

And here is our Valentine's Day flag, braving the snowstorms of January. Poor little naked baby. Brrr!

I wasn't sure how the shelves would work out, but it sure beats redecorating my mantle every single holiday!
