Thanksgiving 2009 was spent at my Granny's country home. We pot-luck when we visit her and everyone always brings the same dishes. You can count on David to make a crisp, buttered turkey, Cathy to make a perfectly crunchy hash-brown casserole, and Granny to make a sweet pecan pie. I crave those things, both the food and the tradition.
I made Harbor a turkey shirt to wear for Thanksgiving- he wore it to my dad's side of the family, my side of the family, and then to David's side. That little turkey shirt was washed everynight, i'm pretty sure. It was fun to create, but I need to get busy with his Christmas shirt- it will be here before we know it!
Our "Four Generations" pose
My, what a difference a year makes! The same pose, Thanksgiving 2008
The above picture makes me giggle... Harbor was two weeks old. I was nursing, had gotten up at least three times the night before to soothe him, and was responsible for the turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy that day. David, of course, did the cooking, but this picture really makes me laugh. You would never know by my smiling face how overwhelmed I was to have had a baby just days before the holiday rush! : ) That is what I think our blogs don't portray.. the work that goes into making everyday special for our children. I think all mothers of young children share a special bond because of that. We are all in it together, busy and tired, but loving every minute!

Sweet Rachel on the jumbo-tron- last one on the right
Beautiful friend, Ashley! So great to see her there unexpectantly!
And, just for kicks, these are a few pictures off my camera of Harbor helping me paint in my craft room.
For Harbor, the best part of going down is coming back up!
HW is walking at full speed. A few days after Thanksgiving, he took off. I think the Christmas tree was definitely good motivation. A gigantic, sparkling evergreen will work wonders for hesitant feet! : )
We are staying busy with Christmas preperations. I decorated a few days before Thanksgiving this year. I usually wait until the day after, but David's brother, wife, and three children traveled from Omaha to stay a few days with us, and I wanted the house to feel festive. Last night, I hosted our 5th grade teachers' Christmas Party and next week we are hosting David's work party. My Christmas cards are being mailed out and handmade gifts are being painted- we are "hustlin' and bustlin" this holiday season. I love it though. Don't you just love to turn off all the lights in the house and stare at the Christmas tree? We are so blessed to have a warm home, a healthy son, and loving relationships. I know you are, too!
Have a great weekend! Stay warm!
