Today when I came home from school, after a long day of teaching subject-verb agreement, I found a mysterious gift bag on the dining room table. The card read, Happy Valentine's Day, but I was unsure what to make of it. After all, it is a little early for my mom to be dropping off a V day gift! David proudly responded that his Valentine's Day shopping was complete and that he had found the perfect gift for me! Can you believe it? Does anyone else's husband shop ahead like this? He has always been a good shopper- his Christmas gifts for me are always a lot more sentimental and considerate than mine are- but, it is not even February, and there sits my gift. I guess I am going to have to stare at it for three weeks. Well, not willing to be outdone, I made a trip to visit my best friend, T.J., and did a little V day shopping of my own. I found David something he will love (he is my blog's biggest fan, so I can't share), and got a few things for myself. I love T. J. Maxx like an insomniac loves late night TV; where else can you find BCBG at discount prices?
A sweet handmade card I received this week from a bloggy friend, Jennifer!
Today, I received another sweet handmade card from a bloggy friend, Jamie.
I must admit, and those who frequent our house know, that I have a wee bit obsession with chandeliers. Either real, or ornamental, I am drawn to them like a vegan to tofu. I have six hanging, and this makes seven, which will soon (Please David!! Just do it!) be mounted in the guest bathroom. I have one in the dining room, foyer, laundry room, our bathroom, future baby's nursery, and in the entrance alcove to our bedroom. I think they are so fun!
Ooooo, I love that coffee stamp!!
ReplyDeleteCute. And I like your diamonds in your dining room--I love dark paint on walls!
ReplyDeleteFun, fun! You always seem to have such an exciting day!! I too love TJ Maxx, but ours is 30 minutes away. The last time I went I found some perfect towels to match my bathroom, but I waited forever and never got checked out.I finally gave up and left!! UGH!! I am still wishing I had those towels. I just wanted them to display on my towel rack! O'well...
ReplyDeleteI love chandeliers too! That one is beautiful! You guys are putting me to shame in the Valentine's gift department. I need to do some shopping.
ReplyDeleteOh I love T J! I almost bought everything to re-do our bedroom there last week and I'm still contemplating it!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to find out what the valentine gifts are - if you can share!!! :-)
hmmmm...to comment or not to comment, that is the question...
ReplyDelete;-)
You're just going to let that gift sit there until V-day? and not even peek a little??
ReplyDeleteOh, and the pink cheeks. I had just walked out of my brother's college graduation, and it was HOT in there. I guess my cheeks do get pretty pink, huh. :)
Make me sick!! David is such a sweetie. :) I love the chandelier!
ReplyDeleteOf course you can add me...I'll also add you on mine.
ReplyDeleteJessica!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet is your husband. Nope, min eis all about last minute.
Thought of you when posting one of my latest blogs. Its a giveaway. I ddint have alot of tiem to prepare so nothing fabulous. But good chocolate.
Anyway, you need to do that with your toles. (Have a giveaway on your blog). It would bring tremendous traffic your way (even more than now!) and expand your tile business, if you would want that (to devote that much time). Just an idea.
You motivate me!
First time here--wow, you are beautiful, talented young woman! Your pictures make it hard to click away! I admire your decorating skills, and your cute little doggie. I have a 5 lb. Yorkie. Anyway, just stopping through, wanted to say Hi!
ReplyDeletewhat a sweet heart david is! :) Hope you got him something awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, maybe he could teach jason a couple things.... LOL
ReplyDeleteHey Jessica
ReplyDeleteI emailed you regarding the tile with the pink ribbon and verse on it. Did you get it??? Kirstin Payne
That was so sweet.
ReplyDeleteNo all our husbands don't shop ahead. I will celebrate my 25th anniversary in March and my husband has yet to shop ahead. I think he must like the thrill of the adrenalin rush of trying to find just the right thing at the very last minute possible.
I love that you are traveling like you are. I wish we could have done that. That is our desire when all our kids are grown and gone.
Have a blessed day,
Julie
Ok girl...my husband NEVER EVER EVER EVER does anything ahead of time! I am SO VERY impressed with your hubs!!
ReplyDeleteI just have to tell you that you and your blog have really inspired me! We moved into our newly built house in December. I have SOOOO much to decorate, I am a bit overwhelmed. However..one thing at a time or one room. AND the pocketbook won't pay for everything at once, know what I mean?! I am not a super creative person like yourself. I am trying though! I spent like almost two hours in Hobby Lobby yesterday!
I SOOOO wish you lived closer to me and I'd pay you to be my decorator!!!
Hope you have a good day!!
Charity
How sweet of David! I probably would have peeked! :) My David is the same way--the gifts he gives me are always better than what I give him. We're lucky to have such great husbands!
ReplyDeleteBargain shopping. Be still my heart.
ReplyDeleteWow, he is really a planner! Mine is more of a tell-me-what-you-want-and-I-will-run-and-get-it-the-day-before man, but that works fine for me.
ReplyDeleteI love T.J. Maxx! You can always find the greatest deals!
What a great hubby! I too love TJs, I typically try and go there every Thursday or Friday. You just never know what might have come in! Are those pillows your got made by Rodeo? I bought some pillows there recently made by Rodeo that were tied together like that. Such a good deal, it was only like $19.99 for 2 pillows!! Love them!!!
ReplyDeleteThat chandelier is awesome looking! You have one great husband. Mine is usually last minute or after the day...but he did good this year for my birthday. I would love to be on your blog roll! Hope you are having a great day!
ReplyDeletei love it all girl!! =) you are so fun! Let me tell you a funny valentines day story...our first one. Rod ran out to WALMART and got me a chocolate license plate that said I love you. It must have been the last thing left. I didn't even eat that kind of hollow chocolate not to be a snob...i just didn't. I put it in the back of my trunk because we were dating and it melted. LOL! So, lets just say he is VERY last minute. Also, I would have to take a sneak peak in that bag. There is no way I would be letting it just sit there.
ReplyDeleteGirl I think I need to send you a card to =) Maybe you can send your address! love ya!
Love those pillows!!! I love TJ Maxx! There is just something fun about the thrill of finding something great for less!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how in the world you are going to be able to not peek at your present since he wrapped it in a sack!!! I couldn't resist the temptation!
Your husband sounds very thoughtful. My husband always finds great gifts, but since we live in a small town, he usually has to wait until the last minute to shop. We don't have anything where we live!
ReplyDeleteGirl - How can you stand not peeking in that little bag? :)
ReplyDeleteI love surprises but not if it is sitting right there in front of me. Pure Torture!
Oh my gosh, you are sooo on with the similies today. "Like a vegan to tofu" and "like an insomniac likes late night tv." Two in one post! You can tell you are an english teacher!
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed by the valentine shopping! I'll probably just bake our traditional heart-shaped cherry mini-cherry pies. Hopefully I won't catch them on fire this year--that happened once! (the filling overflowed in the oven and was flaming when I looked in!) ha!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I just had to post another comment!! I could have written the comment that Charity wrote. We just moved into our house in July and I am just not a decorator. I too have been so inspired to make my house cute from looking at your pictures! I thought about taking pictures of my blank walls for you to look at and tell what to hang there! ha!!
ReplyDeleteAwww....what a sweetie!! But what torture for you to have to stare at it for weeks! Can't wait to see the post about what's in the bag :)
ReplyDeleteLOL :) Sure thing.. I am pretty cheap LOL
ReplyDelete$15.00 for a doggie tutu (with a Bow on it)
If you still want one: I Just need to know what colors you'd like it to be and what is bichon's waist measurements! :)
Hey! Thanks for the sweet comments! :) Well, I taught first grade before I had Ella. Not for very long though. My first degree was in Bus.Management and I worked in retail management for years. After we had Ethan, I hated the hours though and went back to school to get my teacher certification. I long term subbed for the first year after I finished school and then taught first grade for half a year before I went on bed rest. So, eventually I will go back to teaching. I loved it!!
ReplyDeleteOf course you can add me to your blog roll! I may add you as well if you don't mind!
ReplyDeleteI will post tomorrow my fun little project I did today! Maybe there is hope for me yet! LOL!
Wow, you're good! I would so have peaked at the present already!
ReplyDeleteThere is NO way I could sit and stare at a present for 3 weeks! I would go nuts!!!
ReplyDeleteFun stuff to come home to after a long day!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your dining room wall! SO COOL!
also..love your new Blog layout!
Hey Jessica!
ReplyDeleteI haven't visited your blog in a while.. wanted to take a peek and catch up on what you've been up to =)
I'll have to check in again after V Day and see what the surprise in the bag is... David is so thoughtful!!
Loved your paintings and crafts as well. Looks like fun =)
Wow that's a terrific job your hubby has done. Way early by typical standards, yes indeed! Just love the photos, all sorts of fun and beautiful gems.
ReplyDeleteThat is soooo like something Terry would do. Just like the 12 days of Christmas where I got a gift everyday for 12 days. Not just any old gift either. These were GREAT, thoughtful, just for me gifts. I think we have two of the best husbands in the world and I'm not just saying that because David is my brother either!!! Susan
ReplyDeleteHe is on the ball....WOW....what a GREAT man!!! =)
ReplyDeleteLove the cards you received too!
We don't have a TJ Maxx around here...just Ross and Marshalls!
Ok, I didn't want to comment again on the giveaway, so this is a follow up comment to your comment on my blog....I read through some more of your page and I can't believe how neat it is to meet people that have so much in common with myself! And I'm a chandelier freak, too!! LOL. I hope to get to talk to you again soon, and if I don't win the giveaway, I'll be in touch about some tiles anyway!! Talk to you soon!
ReplyDeleteI seen "ME" on your friend list!!! =) I need to figure out how to do that!!! I don't have many blog friends but it would be a cool way to keep up with them!! I left one of my other Blog friends (CPA Mom) a comment about you...I told her I found a new friend today!!! lol =) If you know what website (if there is one) your "HOG" shirt came from...I must know...I need one!! lol =) When I was growing up I use to collect pigs...lol...yeah for real! I use to show pigs in FFA and 4-H...I was a little country girl and loved it! Then my place was over ran with pigs...so I kind of stopped collecting them! It got to where...friends and family would see a PIG and think of me...that is sooooooooooooooooo NOT cool!!! lol I know it's the thought that counts but it kind of got old...BUT...your shirt is just tooooo cool and I need one! =) Okay there ya have it....my pig/hog story!
