Thank you for all of the sweet comments. I feel so blessed to have such sweet friends and family praying for us. Maybe someday I will be able to gather my thoughts and share as I'm sure it would be theraputic for me, but for now, I am thankful for His love and praying that He will continue to direct my steps.
As a family, we were so excited to have my mom's sister, Cathy, fly in from Arkansas to be with us here in Detroit this past week. It helped to cheer our spirits and, we joked, that she must have brought Arkansas with her- we had weather all last week in the 70's!! Unheard of in eastern Michigan in March!
We did a lot in a short amount of time.
We spent many hours sleeping in, reading, playing games with Harbor, and working in the yard.
We took Harbor to our neighborhood park and pier so Cathy could see Canada from the end of our street.
I drove to Lake Erie so Cathy could experience her first Great Lake!
We celebrated David's 31st birthday a few days early with dinner out and dessert at home.
{Yes, I cut about six inches off of my hair! It has been a good change for spring/summer}
We took Cathy into the city on St. Patrick's Day. It was wild.
Hundreds of people on the river walk. This nice weather brings everyone out of hibernation up north.
We made sure she saw all the landmark sights.
We drove to the island for Detroit's famous skyline view.
We stopped at a popular fishing pier.
We walked the Detroit River walk.
And introduced Cathy to the heart and soul of the city- GM Global Headquarters.
As luck would have it, their showroom inside was open to the public.
Harbor requested a ride on the DPM {Detroit People Mover.}
It is the best way to see the city and all of the districts.
We passed by the Joe Louis Arena, which is home to the Detroit Redwings.
And we stopped and unloaded in Greektown for dinner. Greektown was so, so crazy.
Packed with people who were celebrating the holiday.
We ate at our favorite Greek tavern, Pegasus.
To end her visit, we drove by the iconic Fox Theater. So many big names come here to preform. Charlie Sheen debuted here when he went on his crazy rant after being let go from his show. Remember that? Anyway, Madonna is coming soon and the Fox Theater is always a good place in Detroit for a celebrity sighting.
We enjoyed having a familiar face and have missed Cathy now that she is back home in Arkansas!
David recently celebrated a year of living and working here.
My, my.. time has sure passed quickly!
